More About HalfMoon……
Well, it all started back in early 2003 when, after years of talking about starting up our own business my mum, Carol, and I, Lisa, decided to really do something about it. While we were in this decisive mood we came across crêpes on a girly trip to Paris. We knew right away crêpes were for us and started looking at how we could translate this naturally French dish into an Irish business.
We knew location was going to be an important factor for us and we had everyone we knew looking out for suitable sites all over the country, but in our hearts we really wanted to be in Dublin's Temple Bar. We were therefore delighted to secure the premises of the former Wall St Café in Crown Alley, right in the heart of Temple Bar. The building was being completely redeveloped which gave us some time to perfect our product and a blank canvas to design the café.
For 6 months we tasted, tested and tantalised our taste buds with different batters and fillings and finally, with the help of a French crêpe chef, we settled on what we believe is the best crêpe, not just in Dublin but the world (never sell yourself short!!). To compliment our range of crêpes we needed to find a good quality coffee and we fell in love with the European taste of Illy, which is now famous throughout the world.
We opened for business on the 21st of October 2004 with lots of things still to be finished but somehow we made it work. HalfMoon is dedicated to great food with a hot customer service and a cool atmosphere. The support and feedback we have had from customers, suppliers, friends and local businesses has been phenomenal and encourages us on to greater efforts.
A special thanks to all those crêpe addicts out there who continue to support us.
